An inspirational afternoon was shared at our Club Otago lunch today.
Dr Owen Jones from the Department of Psychology at the University of Otago provided an update on his promising frontotemporal dementia research project, funded by an OMRF Annual Grant. We look forward to hearing more about the outcomes next year.
We were also deeply moved by Aleina Beer, who shared her remarkable journey following meningococcal meningitis in 2019. Her resilience through multiple surgeries, partial leg amputation, and a kidney transplant was truly inspiring. Aleina also highlighted the importance of vaccination and her ongoing work with the Meningitis Foundation and the University of Otago to raise awareness.
A heartfelt thank you to our speakers, guests, Club Otago Patron, Mercy Hospital, and Club Otago members for supporting vital medical research in Otago.
Thank you also to our sponsors - Scenic Hotel Southern Cross for the venue, and Challenge Marketing, Rialto Cinemas Dunedin and Cheveux Studio for their raffle donations.
We hope you can join us for our next Club Otago lunch on 3 July with NPC Otago Rugby coach Mark Brown. Details coming soon.
