We are delighted to announce the following recipients have recently been awarded Otago Medical Research Foundation funding.

 

Jack Thomson Bequest Grant

Project: Identifying pro-inflammatory biomarkers for osteoarthritis

Principal investigator: Dr Adele Woolley, Department of Pathology, University of Otago

Co-investigators: Prof Lisa Stamp, Department of Medicine, University of Otago Christchurch, Prof Simon Stebbings, Department of Medicine, University of Otago and Dr Fraser Harrold, Department of Surgical Sciences, University of Otago

 

Laurenson Bequest Award

Project: Maternal diet and long-term effects on maternal and offspring health

Principal investigator: Assoc Prof Mike Garrett, Department of Anatomy, University of Otago

Assoc Prof Tracy Perry, Division of Sciences, University of Otago ,Professor Sue Crengle, Ngāi Tahu Māori Health Research Unit, University of Otago, and Mr Cameron Young, Department of Anatomy, University of Otago 

 

In 2024, the OMRF has funded over $382,000 in our Annual Grant, Jack Thomson and Laurenson Bequests, and Summer Research Scholarship rounds. The Foundation could not achieve this without the support of community individuals and organisations who provide vital funding for these grants.
