Professor Robert Patman - an insightful start to the 2017 Club Otago season

30/04/2017

The 2017 Club Otago season opened in fine style with an investigation into the rationale behind Donald Trump’s election as United States President, what he has learnt in his early months in office, how he captured the imagination of the American people through rhetoric and just how his presence in the White House will affect New Zealand.

Professor Robert Patman, director of international Studies at the University of Otago and renowned globally for his ability to clarify and demystify events which are highly complex addressed a full house and then answered questions from the floor.
Professor Patman’s in-depth knowledge and analysis of the US election and its aftermath, the standoff with Russia, the Syrian issue and New Zealand’s ability to withstand most of the changes the world may see in the years ahead made for fascinating listening.
There’ll be many a debate around the tea table as those attending have a greater insight into matters of huge global importance.
