Summer Research Scholarship Student Soirée a great success

12/02/2026

A celebration was held on 29th January for our 2025/6 Summer Research Scholarship students.

We were delighted to welcome 17 of the 20 OMRF-funded scholars, along with their supervisors, funders, OMRF Council and Scientific Committee members, scholars supported by other organisations, and staff from the University of Otago’s Division of Health Sciences.
Held each year toward the end of the students’ 10-week projects, this event is a valuable opportunity for students to connect, reflect on their research experiences, and celebrate their achievements.
The event was proudly co-hosted by the Otago Medical Research Foundation and the University of Otago’s Division of Health Sciences, highlighting our long-standing and valued partnership. Thank you to Professor Megan Gibbons, Professor Greg Jones, and Tracey Fleet for their contributions on the night. Summer Research Scholarships are highly competitive and provide students with hands-on research experience in human health, often shaping future research and teaching careers while contributing meaningful knowledge to the field.
Opportunities are available for individuals or businesses to sponsor or co-sponsor OMRF Summer Research Scholarships. Please contact Tracey Fleet ([email protected]) to learn more about supporting the 2026/27 scholarship round.
We are truly grateful to the sponsors of this year's scholarship round. For full details of the sponsors and the students and their projects, see our website at https://omrf.org.nz/research/summer-scholarships/
