Upcoming Club Otago Lunch

15/09/2016

Recently-retired director-general of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), David Howman, will be the next Club Otago speaker in the Glenroy Auditorium on Friday 30th September.

Howman recently returned to New Zealand after more than a decade in the job and his address will be fascinating. Questions to be addressed include a view on whether or not WADA made any progress in closing the gap on the drugs cheats, just how rife was the Russian State-sponsored doping regime, and did the International Olympic Committee walk away from its responsibilities in not placing a blanket ban on the Russian team named for the Rio Games?

One suspects those topics will form only the tip of the iceberg and with Howman now free of his duties, there’ll be plenty of frank and open discussion on the day.
