We are privileged to have Aleina Beer join us to share her journey of surviving life-threatening meningococcal meningitis at just 23. After losing a leg and later undergoing a kidney transplant, she has rebuilt her life with resilience, positivity and determination.
Now pursuing her passion for horse riding with hopes of competing in the Paralympics, Aleina uses her story to raise awareness and inspire others to make the most of every opportunity.
We'll also hear from our Face of Research, Dr Owen Jones, from the Department of Psychology at the University of Otago. Dr Jones was awarded an OMRF Annual Grant in 2025 for his project "Testing a novel therapy for frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Owen will give an overview of the project and explain what FTD is, how it differs from Alzheimer’s, what the team have been trying to do and what they hope to find during the project.
We hope you can join us for two very interesting speakers, a delicious 2-course lunch, drinks and networking.
