What an amazing speaker we have for our first OMRF Club Otago of 2026 - Emma Gilmour!

Emma Gilmour is one of New Zealand’s most accomplished rally drivers, with an international career spanning nearly two decades.

She made her international debut in 2006 after winning a scholarship to compete in Europe, going on to race in rallying, rallycross, and cross-country events across the globe. In 2022, Emma became the first female factory driver for McLaren Racing, competing in their debut Extreme E season.

Her career highlights include reaching the semi-finals at the X Games in Las Vegas, finishing runner-up in the FIA Asia-Pacific Rally Championship — the first woman to do so — and multiple runner-up finishes in the New Zealand Rally Championship. She was also the first woman to win an outright round of the New Zealand Rally Championship. Most recently, she finished third overall in the 2024 New Zealand Rally Championship.

Off the stages, Emma is also a successful business owner. She has owned and operated Gilmour Motors for over a decade, balancing the pressures of elite motorsport with running a growing automotive business.

We hope you can join us over lunch for what promises to be a fantastic talk from Emma. We will also have a Face of Research (speaker TBC) to give guests an overview of their research funded from an OMRF grant.
